Welcome to my website.

I am an active trader/investor who is passionate about all things related to the markets. I’m also an eToro Junkie and have been active on their platform since 2014 when I first learnt about the innovative world of social investing. I have too many accounts to list but my main one which part of the Popular Investor program is ‘InvestusMaximus’.

I first started investing in in 1999 when the dotcom bubble was forming and overall it was not a profitable experience for me. Following that I spent most of a decade building my own business and investing was a passive kind of hobby, mainly investment trusts and mutual funds.

I’ve always had ‘savers’ mentality about money and as far back as I can remember I’ve squirrelled away what money I could into saving accounts, premium bonds, investment trusts, precious metals and always enjoyed having a collection of different assets and accounts with many providers. But it was not until 2014 when I watched a BBC programme about traders that I learnt about eToro, and something triggered a renewed interest to take a serious look at becoming an active investor again and learning about the trading side of the industry.

This came at the perfect time for me as I had just spent a couple of years wandering and a bit lost regarding what I wanted to do next with my career. In 2010 I had gone back to School and completed a Masters Degree in Management & Consulting, but then decided I did not want that kind of corporate life.

Joining eToro introduced me to the world of Social Investing and provided access to trading markets like Forex and Commodities that I had never thought about engaging with before. They also had the Copy Trader system which allowed me to follow and copy others to duplicate their trades and investments automatically, but also learn from their analysis and forecasts.

Back In 2014 There Were Too Many High Leverage Traders And Bad Things Happened!

We are fortunate that the Copy Trading system at eToro has developed into something quite special over the last 8 years while I’ve been a member, as I remember my first experiences with it being quite a disaster. There were no ETF’s back then if I remember correctly and the stock selection was very limited. Most of the big active Popular Investors were involved in Forex, trading pairs like EURUSD and USDJPY.

Like everyone else, I saw some of the gains being made by them and thought it would be fantastic. While I learnt more above active investing and how to trade, I could copy these Popular Investors and make my money grow. eToro did not have the trading guidelines and restrictions they have in place now and this basically created a situation where traders were using X400 leverage and posting hugely impressive gains when it worked. But when some market trends changed, several prominent traders blew their accounts and the AUM of their copiers along with it.

It was that terrible experience of losing money with the Copy Trader system that gave birth to my desire to become a Popular Investor myself and be someone copiers could rely on not to take crazy risks.
